The year began with many problems. Corey is monopolized by Stone Sour and rumors put aside to Slipknot. What causes more or less the hassle of some members of the group. However, preclude No Stone Sour keep going and the group passed through Europe in early February. The Murderdolls As at the end of 2002 would pass through Paris to promote his album. Then the calm reigns place until September with the release of the album To My Sorprise, the side project of Mr. Shawn Crahan. Something unexpected surprisingly, the album comes out in a general indifference while the DVD edition of Welcome To Ur Neighbourhood will turn more noise.

As for Slipknot, the band enters the studio in early October with Rick Rubin (Slayer, SOAD) to management. More than twenty songs are composed mainly by Joey. There were still trying to group the ideas in the titles of the songs almost by the omnipotence of Joey. Jordison is intended to guide the group toward a more brutal while Corey would like something more quiet. A compromise seems however to announce the release of the new album for May 2004.
